DEGIRO export for your Swiss tax statement

DEGIRO does not issue a Swiss eSteuerauszug and says so itself. What it exports is enough to build one: an account statement with every dividend, withholding tax and trade, and a portfolio snapshot with your holdings on 31 December. Two CSV files, nothing to configure — the only thing to get right is the dates.

DEGIRO exports are read today, from any device. DEGIRO's web platform offers both exports from a phone or a computer. Upload both CSV files together; reading them is free, and you see your full summary before anything is charged.

You will need

  • Account statement (Account statement / Kontoauszug, CSV) — 01.01.2025 – 31.01.2026
  • Portfolio snapshot (Portfolio → Export, CSV) — dated 31.12.2025

The two files, and the dates to set for 2025

Account statementAccount statement / Kontoauszug · CSV · required
01.01.2025 – 31.01.2026 — Inbox → Account statement (Kontoauszug) → Export → CSVEvery dividend and interest payment in its original currency, the withholding tax on each, and every buy and sell. The range runs into January on purpose — see the note below.
Portfolio snapshotPortfolio → Export · CSV · required
dated 31.12.2025 — Portfolio → set the date → Export → CSVYour holdings and cash on the last day of the year: the Wertschriftenverzeichnis itself. The date matters; a snapshot taken today is not the year-end one.
Annual overviewJahresübersicht (German interface) · PDF · optional
for 2025 — Inbox → Dokumente / Documents, from late FebruaryOptional. Not an input — its amounts are already converted at DEGIRO’s own rate — but we reconcile our totals against it, and it is the document a tax office recognises if asked.

Why the account statement range ends on 31 January, not 31 December

DEGIRO files every movement under the day it was booked, and a payment with a value date of 31 December is booked on the first working day of January. A statement exported to 31 December therefore misses the year-end distributions that belong to the tax year. Exporting to 31 January of the following year catches them; we keep only the rows whose value date falls inside the tax year, and the January trades and deposits in the file are ignored.

Step by step

  1. Log in on a computer

Open degiro.ch in a browser. The mobile app shows statements but does not export CSV files.

The DEGIRO web platform after login, with the Inbox and Portfolio entries in the left menu visible.
  2. Export the account statement for the year

Go to Inbox, then Account statement — Kontoauszug if your DEGIRO is in German. Set the start date to 01.01.2025 and the end date to 31.01.2026. Click Export and choose CSV.

The default range is one month. An export made without changing it contains one month of movements and nothing else. And the end date is 31 January, not 31 December: a dividend paid on the last day of the year is booked in January and would otherwise be missing.

  3. Export the portfolio as of 31 December

Go to Portfolio. Set the date to 31.12.2025, click Export and choose CSV.

Leave the date on today and you export your holdings now, which is not what you held at year end.

  4. Optionally, download the annual overview

Under Inbox, Dokumente — Documents on an English interface — the Jahresübersicht 2025 appears from late February. Keep the PDF: it is what you show a tax office, and we check our totals against it.

  5. Upload the two CSV files

The account statement and the portfolio snapshot together. Reading them is free; you see every position, every payment and your reclaim before anything is charged.

What the files look like

  • Comma-separated with a decimal point, headings in the language of your account (German on a Swiss account).
  • A German or an English export both work, and give identical figures — verified on one account exported twice. DEGIRO translates the column headings with your interface language but leaves the descriptions as they were booked, so an English export of a Swiss account still says Dividende and Kauf, and we read both.
  • An export in another language is read if we understand its words, and refused if we do not. The columns sit in the same places whatever the language, so such a file always opens — what matters is the wording that says what each row is. We check how much of it we recognised, and stop rather than hand you a statement that looks right and is short. Changing your DEGIRO language will not help there: DEGIRO translates the headings but not the descriptions, and only offers your account language or English. Send us the file and we will add the words.
  • The menu labels below follow your interface language: Account statement in English, Kontoauszug in German. Both export the same file.
  • The account statement has twelve columns; the payment date is the value date (Valutadatum), and the description says what each row is: Dividende, Dividendensteuer, Kauf, Verkauf, Währungswechsel.
  • Dividends appear in their original currency, with the withholding tax as a separate row on the same day.
  • The portfolio export lists one cash row per currency. A row showing −0.00 is normal.

Uploads that will not work

A one-month account statement
The default range. It contains December, or whichever month was showing, and nothing else. Set the start date to 1 January.
An account statement ending on 31 December
Looks right, misses the year-end distributions that DEGIRO books in January. End the range on 31 January of the following year; we ignore what falls outside the tax year.
A portfolio export dated today
Your current holdings, not your holdings on 31 December. Set the date on the Portfolio page before exporting.
The Transactions export instead of the account statement
It lists buys and sells only — no dividends, no withholding tax. Everything in it is already inside the account statement.
XLSX instead of CSV
Same data, different container. Choose CSV in the export dialog.
The annual overview PDF on its own
Its figures are already converted at DEGIRO’s rate and it has no payment currencies. We read the two CSVs and reconcile against the PDF, not the other way round.
